Bristol JAM (VA)

The Bristol Bearcat JAM, a Crooked Road JAM program, has four sites at The Morrison School, Virginia Middle School, Washington Lee Elementary School, and The Birthplace of Country Music Museum. Local bluegrass musicians work with Virginia Middle School teachers and administrators to host this traditional music education program after school for fourth through twelfth graders, as part of the 21st Century Learning Center grant. Bristol JAM offers instruction on fiddle, clawhammer and three-finger banjo, guitar, mandolin, bass, singing, and ukulele. The Morrison School meets on Wednesdays from 3:00 to 4:00, VMS meets on Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00, WLE meets on Wednesdays from 4:15 to 5:00, and BCMM meets on Saturday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30. Enrichment opportunities include partnerships with neighboring organizations, such as the Birthplace of Country Music Museum.
